Is Australia to become a republic now?

>

The Brits woke up in a different country.
(Monday December 1st, 2009)

Alright, it doesn’t look very different. The trees still seem black against the winter sun; the motorways continue to jam inexplicably; commuters carry on avoiding eye contact. But Britain is no longer a sovereign nation. At midnight last night, we ceased to be an independent state, bound by international treaties to other independent states, and became instead a subordinate unit within a European state.

The article is worth a read.

I sure as heck did not hear anything about it on the news, so that tells me one of two things. (a) Either the Brits (as in the common folk) have not heard anything about it on their news – hence there have been no riots, or (b) the politicians have hidden this fact from them, and what it means. They are now subordinate to the EU.

OK so there are no riots in the UK… can we still call it the UK now? But what if anything does this mean for Australia? Correct me if I am wrong, but don’t we come under the Westminster System, and don’t we still have an allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth?

So If Britain is no longer British and has become a member state of the European Union, what does that make Australians – Europeans by default?

Just curious…….

Back in 2005 James Lewis wrote a rather challenging article on just this matter.
——— control of the British military. The British Army, Royal Air Force, and Royal Navy are being cut severely, and part of the remainder will soon be assigned to a European Defense Force. Soon, the EU will have a veto over British military decision making.
——— control of British foreign policy. The EU demands a common foreign policy — meaning that France and Germany will decide together with Britain what policies to adopt. Given the level of animosity toward the US among the elites in Europe, those policies will not be friendly to us.
——— control of domestic police powers. Today, the European bureaucracy can issue arrest warrants for British citizens. The time is not far off when EU police will be able to range far and wide across the old national borders. Sovereignty means independent control of one’s nation. That is going fast.
——— free speech and the right of habeas corpus. Recently the head of a small nationalist party was arrested for criticizing Islam in a private meeting.
——— the sovereignty of Parliament, the centerpiece of British democracy. The unelected European Commission is taking on the powers of the British Parliament, while the European Parliament itself is not even allowed to propose any laws.
——— democratically accountable government. The EU is run by the new Axis Powers ——— the Franco—German axis, with walk—on parts for the smaller countries. They are the new ruling class. The capital of the new superstate is Brussels, but the strings are pulled in Paris and Berlin.
The strange thing is that there is almost no public outcry over the slow sinking of England.

This is one more area I think we need to look very closely at, and ensure that nothing sneaks past us from our politicians…… Are we Australian’s OR are we now, by default, members of the European Union?

I for one would like to know more about this. What about you?
