SEIZING on the unpopular announcement of a proposed carbon tax by the Gillard Government, the National party has launched an online petition seeking public feedback on the controversial issue.

Nationals Federal Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker said the petition was established because so many people had enquired about how they could protest over the carbon tax.

“Australia deserves the right to express their opposition to the carbon tax and by signing this petition we can highlight the concern which exists in the community,” he said.

“Across the North Coast I have met pensioners, low and middle income earners plus many small business people who understand the impact this tax will have on the cost of living and jobs.

“They resent the fact that our Government is imposing this on us whilst the rest of the world does nothing.”

Mr Hartsuyker accused the Labor party, the Greens and the Independents of forming an alliance on the issue, saying they couldn’t be trusted.

“The Government is counting on a multi-million dollar taxpayer funded campaign to con the Australian people on this issue,” he said.

“The Julia Gillard/Greens/Independent alliance simply can’t be trusted.

“As consumer and business confidence bottoms out, the Government is making a difficult situation worse with this carbon tax.”

Federal Member for Page Janelle Saffin said the Federal Nationals say no to everything.

“They are missing in action when it comes to policy,” she said.

“How about they come up with something positive for a change?

“They opposed money going to local schools, the National Broadband Network coming to our region, and are now campaigning against a clean energy future for our kids and our grandkids.”

Ms Saffin said the Gillard Government was being proactive by launching its clean energy package, which includes generous assistance for households and industry.

“I am about taking positive action and protecting us at the same time.”

  1. You need to remind the government tjhat NASA has just released satelllite findings disproving CO2 global warming once and for all and therefore a carbon tax makes absolutely no sense. But that is reason and logic and facts, all alien concepts to the libtards.

    Blessings on you and yours
