Latest Solar Eclipse Hype – or Is It?
Only this week we have read two very different scenarios – theories – possible reasons why there are so many noticeable Earth Changes happening.
IPCC Scientists have issued dire warnings, that if we do not curtail our CO2 emissions – which they say are the cause of Global Warming (therefore AGW meaning we humans are responsible), then we can expect “unprecedented extreme weather conditions and climate events.”
Meanwhile, Top international scientists and disaster experts have come together with a sharp message for the world’s political leaders: ‘Get ready for more dangerous and unpredictable weather caused by the Sun’s effect here on Earth.’ (emphasis mine).
Now we all know over the years there have been some other dire predictions of impending doom and disasters. Can anyone remember the Y2K predictions? Bloggers have even listed quite a number of them. You can go back to our early history and find scary predictions of impending disaster. Here is just one example:
According to Isaac Asimov’s Book of Facts (1979), an Assyrian clay tablet dating to approximately 2800 BC was unearthed bearing the words “Our earth is degenerate in these latter days. There are signs that the world is speedily coming to an end. Bribery and corruption are common.” This is one of the earliest examples of the perception of moral decay in society being interpreted as a sign of the imminent end.
Even this year (2011) we had the doom and gloom scenario of a comet hitting our planet.
And just today Mitch Batross has again warned that due to the Solar Eclipse on November 25th and the Lunar Eclipse on December 10th, we should be prepared for some severe Earth Changes – wild weather, possibly volcanic eruptions and or earthquakes.
So who can you trust and where can you find truth?
The Mayan Calendar has ended and we are still here. The Hopi are still hopping – the end has not arrived yet. Christians are looking towards end times – and they will happen, but there is still much of the prophetic word to be fulfilled, before Christ, Messiah returns.
Should we worry? NO. Should we be prepared? Depends who you ask and what you mean to prepare for.
Christian Scriptures tells us emphatically NO ONE KNOWS the time or date when this will occur – ONLY Father God knows.
Christian Scriptures (in parable form) tells about the wise and unwise, the prepared and unprepared Virgins.
Christian Scripture also tells the parable of the Man who went on a journey and no one knew when he would return.
We are also warned that this will happen suddenly without warning, like ‘a thief in the night’, so be prepared.
But having said all of that we are given instructions about things that are to happen before the end comes.
In the Gospel of Matthew (Mt. 24: 3-14) we learn:
As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.
“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Upon reflection it is fair to ask if any of these things have or are currently taking place. The answer is YES of course we can see these things in our society right now. There most certainly are false Messiah’s. Daily we hear of wars breaking out, and threats of war about to happen. I have lost count of the number of current volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, famines, droughts, floods and landslides. These things have been happening since Christ ascended (Acts 1:9-10). Are they more frequent now? Perhaps. If you listen to Mitch Batross they most certainly are.
